Maths Tutoring with Tanveer Ahmed

About me

I work in the EU bubble, with a background in Chemical Engineering, Sociology, Public Policy, Economics and, most recently, EU Competition Law. I grew up in a family of academics (my mother is a particle physicist, my brother a computer science engineer), so maths was a rite of passage.

I have been tutoring maths and physics since 2018, when I started in Berlin during my master’s. My students range from age 10 to first-year university, including some preparing for entrance exams on tight deadlines.

How I teach

I get to know each student’s interests and build the maths around their everyday life.

I explain patiently, as often as needed, and never move on until your child is fully convinced. My aim is to make them smarter, not just better at maths.

I adapt to the student. Some do best when I lead and handle the reinforcement in class, with no homework. Others want to be challenged and left to think. I’m happy with either, depending on what your child is comfortable with.

Practicalities

• Sessions2 hours minimum. That’s the one non-negotiable. It gives me time to teach a concept, test it and fix any gaps straight away.
• Rate€60 per hour at my place, 300m from Schaerbeek station. I’ll share the address when we’re in touch. Home visits are possible at a premium.
• ScheduleWeekends year-round, plus weekdays before exams.
• ExtrasExtra practice questions, homework where needed and mock exams before the real thing.
• UpdatesRegular WhatsApp updates on what we covered, how your child is progressing and what needs work. If I see a worrying pattern, I’ll tell you early and ask for your help. I won’t reprimand your child myself, because I want to keep their trust.
• FoodMy wife is usually home on weekends and often has snacks ready, so hunger doesn’t kill concentration.
